Lev Kamenev is one of the famous 19th century landscape painters of Russia. He is known for his realistic Russian landscape paintings. Lev was born in 1834 in Russia. His father was a shop owner and he had to join his father’s shop at an early age to assist him. His grandfather spend money to get admission for him in an art school. At the age of twenty one, he joined the painting school of Moscow. He studied art under Karl Rabus and studied painting techniques in detail. 19th century paintings can be best defined with his works.
He received several awards for his paintings “View from the Outskirts of Porechye” and “Winter View from the Outskirts of Moscow“. He conducted several exhibitions to showcase his landscape paintings. But in 1886, Lev Kamenev died alone in poverty. Here are some of the selected paintings of this great artist.
