“unbelievable realism” is right. This is not really painting at all. The technique is everything–from the photo to its transmission to canvas and then the addition of pigments. Traditional painters do not consider this really painting, and many galleries will not carry this kind of work. Yes, it has its fascination and appeal, but that doesn’t mean it’s really painting in the tradition of the great cityscape artists.
