Paul Smith Biography
He was born in 1948 and stepped into the world of art at the age of fifteen. He was able to sell his first painting very easily and thought being an artist is quite easy. But it actually took several years for him to hold on to the domain.
It was his first speed trail visit in 1968 that made him an avid fan of classic cars. Although Paul is interested to paint street scenes and landscapes, his love for cars remain a step ahead of others. He tries to convey a story using large canvas paintings including cars and people surrounding it. He is not interested in selling prints of his paintings.
For each commissioned work, the artist dedicates a pool of time to research and analyse the features of a specific car. He then finds out the composition and reaches the upper limit that is expected by his client. Every work is a fine piece of craftsmanship. He enjoys the very smell of paints and feeling of brush strokes of each car painting.
To be considered classic, a car must be at least 20 years old. It should not be altered or modified and must be in its original design. In simple means, a car manufactured after 1925 is eligible to be considered classic. There are several artists who paint vintage cars and classic car. Painting a racing car requires ideal knowledge about such vehicles.
Paul’s work includes Ferrari 250 paintings, Jaguar XKSS, Porsche 907, Ferrari F2007, Aston Martin DB4 GT, Maserati etc.
I love these cars. The paintings are beautiful. I’d like to have them hanging on my wall and the cars (at least one of them) parked in my garage!
